UK: Cannabis 'eased' MS patient's pain

A multiple sclerosis sufferer who smoked cannabis to ease her pain has
been given a conditional discharge by magistrates.
Police found more than 100 cannabis plants growing at the home of Swiss
translator Karin Grevis, 43, in Longstanton, Cambridgeshire, after being
called to a report of a break-in February, magistrates in Cambridge heard.
Grevis, a grandmother who is separated from her husband, admitting
producing and possessing the drug.
Magistrates' chairman Stephen Papworth said there was no evidence that
Grevis was cultivating cannabis for commercial gain.
"We don't consider there is any intention to make financial profit," he
said.
"We clearly understand the issues relating to her medical condition but
we have to put that to one side in coming to our decision about the
proper sentence.
