UK: Dealer Avoids Jail Sentence
---
A 22-year-old caught in possession of more than £300 of cannabis has
been spared a jail sentence.Chantelle Finn, of Kirby Street, Cobridge,
pleaded guilty to possessing more than 61 grams of the class-C drug,
with intent to supply.
The drugs were found by police in her home on October 14 last year,
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard yesterday.
Recorder Mukhtar Hussain said he had not sent her to prison because of
efforts she has made since to improve herself, including getting a job
in a cafeteria.
Prosecutor David Bennett said Finn had pooled money with her friends to
buy the drug, sell it on and feed her own addiction.
Daniel Oscroft, defending, said it was not an example of large-scale
drug-dealing.
Finn will carry out 150 hours of unpaid work, and was given 12-month
supervision order with costs of £450.
