Don't discount hemp for biofuels
---
My avid interest in your series on biofuels turned to dismay upon
realizing that you had overlooked a key factor in the analysis of
biofuel prospects. A realistic view of history shows that industrial
sabotage against American farmers deprived them of what was called "the
most profitable and desirable crop that can be grown" - hemp.
It was only hysterical hearsay from powerful special interests, not
scientific evidence, that tricked Congress into effectively banning the
first plant ever cultivated and the premier renewable resource. No
single plant produces the quality and quantity of fiber, cellulose, oil,
protein and medicine as the falsely maligned cannabis hemp plant.
It was disappointing to see your writers deceived by old and corrupt
misinformation. You owe your readers a more accurate perspective on such
an important farm and energy issue.
