Argentina: Million Marijuana March (English)
---
Next Saturday 5 of May, at 16 o'clock, 30 hrs. in Bv. Oroño and the
river, city of Rosary, for the sixth consecutive time, the traditional
social demonstration in the framework of the Million Marijuana March,
under the order to decriminalize the possession of drugs for personal
consumption, to stop the arrests by consumption of marijuana, to defend
the scientific investigation of the therapeutic uses of the cannabis.
The encounter, as every year, is framed in the Million Marijuana March,
an assembly to international level by an efficient and human, more just
politics of drugs. Similar demonstrations will be carried out in 348
cities of 44 countries. The Damages Reduction Association of Argentina
(BURN) formed ten years ago, to debate in our country on the subjective
and social costs of the prohibition and the problems of the users of
drugs from the dangers of the use and the associated myths around it,
the dangers of its prohibition, its adulteration and the lack of
information on them and the risks and damages related to the conditions
in which its consumption is carried out.
This work prompted in the different provinces, today is translated in
the formation of new groups and organizations that add to this fight
without fears to advance in a joint way.
BURN insists that the penalty of the possession of drugs for personal
consumption means for the consumer a setting of illegality and
criminalization that it separated from the health system and that in
Argentina a space should be given for the debate on the public politics
of drugs and the failure of its prohibition.
