UK: Arrest after another cannabis factory raid
---
Equipment set up to be used to grow large quantities of cannabis has
been found in an industrial unit in Daventry.
The hi-tech lighting and heating systems were uncovered by officers from
the Daventry Safer Community team at lunchtime and comes after a string
of drug farms were dismantled by police in the area.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police confirmed that a local man was
arrested following the raid. He said: "The discovery was made by the
local safer community team at about 1pm, at an industrial unit in James
Watt Close in the town.
"A 43-year-old Daventry man has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis
cultivation and will be interviewed at Weston Favell police station."
On Friday, officers from the Daventry Rural SCT began dismantling their
fourth factory in just six days, and on Saturday the seventh farm to be
found throughout the county was uncovered in Sywell Road, in Overstone.
Last week, Sgt Alasdair Fraser warned that it was likely more illegal
farms – which have the capacity to produce as much as £100,000 worth of
drugs every 10 weeks – would be discovered in the area.
