UK: Cannabis farm raided
---
POLICE uncovered a cannabis farm after raiding a house.
Officers from Durham Police's drugs squad acted on a tip-off and carried
out the operation in Church Street, Leadgate, near Consett.
Around 15,000 worth of drugs and equipment was recovered during the raid
on Friday evening.

Police forced their way into the property and found drug-cultivating
activity being carried out in the bedroom.
A police spokesman said: "The grow was extremely well-organised with a
tent, electrical equipment, watering equipment and extraction vents.
"There were 11 fully mature plants that were ready for cultivation in
the grow."
The occupant of the house was not present and is yet to be arrested.
Police in Consett say are taking a tough stance against drugs and a
series of raids in licensed premises were carried out before Christmas.
The spokesman added: "Just because it is cannabis and a class C does not
mean it is harmless.
"Drug abuse is very disruptive to communities and we want to disrupt the
supply of drugs wherever possible."
He added: "They are result of information from people who are concerned
about drug use in their community who have come forward.
"Combating the scourge of drugs has to be a partnership between police
and the public.
"Each piece of information if part of a jigsaw that will help tackle the
problems caused by this harmful trade.
"Drugs are often a common denominator in all forms of crime."
