UK: Man jailed for cannabis production
---
A SOPHISTICATED cannabis factory was found during an early morning
police raid at a farm.
Armed police raided Acar Farm in the countryside near Gwyddelwern,
Corwen, and in addition to a large number of cannabis plants growing in
a hydroponics system, officers found a prohibited weapon, explained
prosecuting barrister Robert Trevor-Jones.
Former marine David Duffell, 37, who lives at the farm, said to have
been taking large amounts of cannabis for a back injury following an
accident which killed his friend, was jailed for three years.
He admitted cultivating cannabis, possessing cannabis with intent to
supply, and possessing the prohibited weapon, a nine-millimetre
semi-automatic carbine pistol.
Co-defendant Brinley Morgan, 50, of Old Chester Road in Birkenhead –
also a former marine who runs martial arts and survival courses for
police and the American military – was jailed for 12 months for
possessing the weapon.
A third defendant, farm worker Craig Woodworth, 23, now of Hatton Road
in Blacon, Chester, admitted cultivating cannabis on the basis that his
employer, Duffell, had instructed him to.
Woodworth, whose payment was being able to help himself to cannabis when
he wanted, escaped immediate custody and he was given a six-month prison
sentence, suspended for two years, with supervision and 200 hours’
unpaid work.
